Does anyone remember The Newlywed Game? Wink Martingale used to host this incredibly funny game show. In a nutshell, 4 couples subjected themselves to intimate questions from the host. The catch was, the spouses were separated from each other during the asking of the questions. Later, the answers of one spouse were compared to the other. This process usually resulted in hysterical laughter, embarrassment and sometimes even heated interchanges between the Newlyweds!
While we all tuned in to watch and laugh, we all agreed that husbands
and wives weren’t always on the same page with each other. I couldn’t help but to wonder if couples, newlyweds or not, are on the same page when they visit a casino together? It didn’t take much investigation to get my answer. Or should I say answers. Sometimes yes, sometimes no, sometimes maybe so. Quickly this is what I mean.
I went out of my way to, well, eavesdrop on a number of couples’ at the casino. Conversations often sounded something like this: “When will you be done playing?”, “How much money did you take, win or lose?, When are we leaving?”,EVEN, “Why did we come here?” There were countless others as well. What immediately struck me was: “Why weren’t these questions asked and answered before they went to the casino?”
It is of the utmost importance to make decisions with your significant other and follow through with them. Oftentimes, when a couple knows what they are going to do before they have to do it, lowers stress and offers a more pleasant gaming experience. So, set time and spending limits with your partner before stepping foot into the casino!
